I was commissioned by design agency Tinder and Sparks to create an illustrated type logo for the band The Scoundrels. It had to be reflective of their delta blues rooted sound (think a younger, brasher White Stripes) but also be brought right up to date to stand out in the current marketplace.
I began by playing around with joined up letter forms and tried to give them a graphic clarity with but with 3d depth. It struck me these forms evoked symbols of vintage rock and roll Americana such as neon signs, guitar leads and silver jewellery. This opened up a lot of opportunies for further extensions of this.
